This is an inter-disciplinary Centre that is run jointly with the PPST Foundation, Chennai. The Centre undertakes research and development activities pertaining to rural industries and technologies. The decentralized textile industry is the focal area of the Centre and the Centre is working on technologies suitable for yarn spinning and dyeing. In the past, the Centre has conducted projects pertaining to the traditional leather industry, traditional water management techniques etc.
