CENTRE FOR University Industry Collaboration

The centre for University-Industry Collaboration was established in 1981, and it primarily, has two broad functional areas:

  • Placement and Training
  • Industry-Institute Interaction

Every year, the Placement activities are carried out for approximately, 1.500- 2,000 students of both Undergraduate and Post-Graduate Programmes. As many as about 150 companies from all over India and abroad visit our campus and conduct campus interviews at this centre and recruit the students. The centre also arranges for Industrial Training for the students of U.G and P.G Programmes during their Summer/Winter Vacations, Industrial training has been made mandatory for most of the Business of Engineering as per the curriculum.

This Centre has a very active Industrial Associate ship Scheme which was launched in june, 1991. Presently, there are 150 members from industries, Engineering Colleges and Polytechnics and R & D Institutions. Various interaction Programmes are conducted every year for the benefit of the member-institutions. Programs for Industry-Institute interactions. Regional Get-togethers of Small and Medium Scale industries, Government-funding agencies, R & D and educational institutions, etc., are organized every now and then.

A Technology Gateway involving Technical Institutions, R & D Labs, Small and Medium scale Enterprises and Funding Agencies has been recently established by CUIC of Anna University. The Centre has also been instrumental in forging many a Memorandum of Understanding with various Industries and Research and Development Establishments. The recent one, being the MoU signed with Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufactures Association(AIEMA) Technology Centre Educational Trust, with a corpus fund of Rs. 35.00 lakhs.

In short, the Centre renders major services is bringing about cohesiveness among the students and the faculty of Anna University in their collaboration with the industry in its contribution towards the growth of technology in India. The Centre for University-Industry Collaboration of Anna University is often considered as a benchmark by other institutions in the area of industry-institute partnership. The centre has been conferred with the autonomy status by Anna University. An Executive committee with the Vice Chancellor as Chairman and the Director as Member-Secretary and other leading academicians and industry personnel as members has already started functioning.
